One of the delegate to the SLFA elective congress Hon. George David Sorieba President Kenema District Football Association has said in Freetown that the SLFA executive headed by Nahim Kadi has lost sight of the constitution and they the delegates are disappointed with the postponement of the election.
He disclosed that they the stakeholders in football in the Eastern Region have decided to pass a resolution, put it on paper sign it and take it to the Minister of Youth and Sports to explain what SLFA has done.
Hon Sorieba said that SLFA wants to play the game and they want to work on their intelligence and we are not going to take it this time around because as stakeholders this is not the way they are supposed to treat us.
He lamented that they went ahead to postpone the elective congress through a press conference “is press conference the way to inform us instead of informing the stakeholders through notification?”
He disclosed that even the first notification that congress should take place on 27-28 of this month there is some amount of fraud in it – the date when he was served is before the date when the letter was written to them and they are not going to agree with them.
He mentioned that all the delegates from the Eastern and Southern Region were in town and some of the colleagues in the Western Area and the Northern Region are also in town.
He mentioned that the announcement of Alhaji Alim Sesay was a surprise to them and he thinks that during the time of the announcement he was out of his mind and he does not know the constitution otherwise he should not have made such a statement like that.
He went further that they gave them notification which they have received and they never informed them about postponement only when they arrived in Freetown.
When asked if they received 500 thousand Leones from their regional chairman by a way of notifying them that the congress has been postponed.
He replied that they had no idea about that money and their regional chairman in the Eastern Regional Joseph Kefala never told them or called them to a meeting.
He went further that he tried to call the regional Secretary General Abu Fofanah he too said he heard about the money but he had not seen it yet and he went further that to make sure what they said he also contacted the regional chairman South Cecil Hanciles who also confirmed that he never got a cent claiming they are not saying the truth.
Hon Sorieba went further that Cecil Hanciles told them categorically that he will not be part of such a decision
He said the issue of 500 thousand Leones is a fraud – the people are using the money the way they feel to use it. “What are you giving five hundred thousand for if the postponement was a reality they should have informed them through writing they should have understood” he queried.
He said because they are now ready to go to congress and try to remove them that is why they want to give them five hundred thousand Leones “we never knew about that.”
When asked if the stakeholders are going to receive money from candidates to vote for them by taking oaths he said it will not happen this time around as it did in the last congress – we are not going to allow that.
He said what they did four years ago is what is affecting the game – this time around the stakeholders are going to vote with honesty not money but your achievements.
He went further that Nahim Kadi wants a second chance with a three page manifesto which is not a manifesto at all.
He revealed that football is not going to encourage politics and if anybody is trying to bring politics into the game they are not going to agree with that and if FIFA gets to know about this they will go to ban us and we are all one family what we are all looking forward to is to promote the game.
He appealed to the other stakeholders that football is not violence and we are going to put our papers straight.
