“I was impressed with the boys performance” – Ian Hughes

The British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone Ian Hughes has over the weekend disclosed to Awoko Sports at the National stadium that he was impressed with the performance of FC Johannes after their match against Kissy All Stars.
He said that this is the first match he has witnessed of FC Johannes and with this kind of performance there is hope and future for the team and the boys. HE Ian Hughes said during the match the boys were so confident throughout which is very good for the team.
He also mentioned that he came in contact with FC Johannes through Isa Johannes who told him about the team adding that he too had heard about the team when he was in London about the work Isa is doing with the boys by ensuring they played football and continue with their schooling.
He said FC Johannes is a very young team, a developing team who have good ball control, a lot of self control he praise the technical team for the marvelous work they doing to the team.
He also disclosed that he has heard that the team will be going to play some friendly matches in Sweden and Norway which is fine for the team. He disclosed that he has spoken to the team and the team organizers on that but I as yet cannot say what assistance they need from the embassy to help the team.
He also revealed that Isa did everything possible by getting him interested and to get him to witness the team first match at the National Stadium in Freetown.                   
He said his interest is to see if he can support the team in the long term because presently they have got the organization in place for the Sweden and Norway trip
He also revealed that during his four years in Sierra Leone he is going to learn about sports in Sierra Leone by witnessing some of these sports
He also mentioned that there are a lot of organizations who are supporting sports in the country so he needs to find out more of this and how they operate.
He also disclosed that his high commission does not have sports as one of their high priority because there are many other things that Sierra Leoneans need. He stated that they are focusing on supporting Democracy, help the parliament, helping the political processes and a host of other things.
