One of Sierra Leone’s local Lawn Tennis coach Tamba Willie who is currently the coach in Kono has disclosed to Awoko Sports in an interview that he likes to train young players in the discipline as they are future leaders of the game.
Coach Tamba mentioned that he is currently training two schools in the town ship of Kono that comprises of 20 players and 10 players from each schools and noted that about 10 of these children will be benefiting from scholarship for five good years.
He said he has been the brain for the development of the discipline in the region for the past 7 years and this has made some who were playing the game that have stopped are also willing to come on board to contribute in their own little way for the growth of the discipline.
He revealed that he has been playing the discipline for 25 years playing several championships in the western area but has never represented Sierra Leone in any international competition.
Coach Tamba disclosed that he is able to come down to Freetown with only two players for this competition as he wanted to see the strength of the other players but the next double mens competition – he is planning to create surprises in the competition by taking all the trophies to Kono.
He went further that this competition will be an eye opener and the discipline is going to expand the game countrywide.
