“Say good bye to Kabba Tiger, as we welcome Koroma’s electricity.” This is how Minister of Energy and Power, Haja Afsatu Kabbah screamed yesterday while addressing journalists at her office.
She explained that 75% of the 10 megawatt thermal plants from Income Eletrix have been received. She said the 15 megawatt generator for the Kingtom power station was expected to be delivered today by Global Trading Company.
The minister explained that the 10 megawatt would produce electricity for the Industrial Areas and for the east axis of Freetown to Waterloo, adding that December 20 remained the target date for the electrification of Freetown. The Managing Director of the National Power Authority, Dr Zubairu Kaloko urged consumers to pay their tariffs, noting that they are working assiduously to ensure that consumers receive adequate power supply.
He said consumers owe the Authority a whooping Le 17.2 million, stressing that they just pay for their debts.
