The director of the Africanist Movement, Chernor Bah has said that his movement is not a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) as was published in a local newspaper (not Awoko).
Speaking at a press conference which he described as a meeting to express his feelings about the “misrepresentation” of his organisation, Bah described the author of the offending article as “completely ignorant” of what an African liberation movement stood for. Describing it as “seditious”, he described the article as “one-sided” saying it contained fabrications and contradictions”.
The article in question described the Africanist Movement as a fake NGO “which used incredible data to access funding from abroad.”
Bah averred that the movement was a socialist organization that “believes in … fighting for the uncompromising liberation and unification of the African people”. He damned the concept of an NGO saying it was “a new international economic order developed with an agenda that will allow the control of the African and Asian economies by the West.”
He said his movement was opposed to the concept of an NGO saying they are a political movement, and denied he had plans to contest the forthcoming local council elections.
Bah, formerly a journalist, said his movement was self-funded, adding they could not write a proposal to the UNDP for funds “because we are against them and what they are doing to our people in Africa.”
This press has seen documents posted on the website by the movement with several bank accounts craving for funds.
