A community-based organization, Voice of Women, is expected to be official launched today at 30 Wallace Johnson Street in Freetown.
Voice of Women, a network of HIV positive women, was launched in May 2007 by the (then) Minister of Health and Sanitation, Mrs Abator Thomas.
Its goal is to contribute to policy issues relating to HIV and AIDS for women in Sierra Leone.
With the support of the United Nations Fund for Women (UNIFEM), new premises have been established for Voice of Women.
In addition to funding the opening and running of the new office, UNIFEM is supporting the establishment of a national secretariat, regional branches in all twelve districts, effective networking of the organization and the enhancement of the capacity of the organization for effective advocacy and training related to HIV/AIDS issues.
It is expected that various dignitaries will attend the ceremony including the National AIDS Secretariat (NAS), UNIFEM, UNAIDS, UNDP, Action Aid, NETHEPS and many more.
