The founder of the Sierra Leone International Football Academy (SLIFA), Benjamin Gordon yesterday told Awoko Sports that the turnout of players during training sessions was great.
He said since the trainings started some weeks ago, they had been experiencing new players everyday and that they were given chances by the technical team to prove their talent before making the final selection of 30 players at the end of the month.
Benjamin Gordon said those players who had been shortlists by the technical team would have to tour the provinces by playing friendly matches to build them up for the task ahead.
Gordon also noted that during this tour they would also be looking for other talented players in the provinces and bring them on board.
He said as the academy was now going international they were trying to hold talks with the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to see how they could come in to represent Sierra Leone in the junior competition if they could not afford the money.
The founder stated that, “other young talented players who are not part of the academy but are playing active football with other clubs will make the trip if they satisfy the technical staff”.
