Secretary General for the ruling APC party, Victor Bockarie Foe, yesterday maintained that, people must go by the rule and observe what is expected in a democratic society
Speaking to Awoko yesterday at his office during an interview, Foe said, the APC as a political party is against violence and that, they will ever remain to be in a democratic way as “we were elected in a democratic manner, through the ballot box…”, Foe said.
He said, they [APC] will ever remain to observe the rule of law and that, as a government they have a responsibility to the people. Foe said, the national security must be safeguarded by everybody, especially the government and that, “no political party should shake the peace of the country”.
In the words of the APC pen pusher, “security is all embracing” as it includes the APC, SLPP, and the PMDC. Speaking further on recent political violence in the country between the APC and the SLPP, Foe said, the SLPP is yet to accept that, they lost the general elections and were “democratically defeated”. He said, “the SLPP are still parading as if they are in government and have refused to accept defeat”.
In the words of Foe “people must follow the rule … SLPP are not above the law, they should have respect for state authority”.
On how the seeming political tension could be handled, Victor Foe suggested that, communication, dialogue and respect for the rule of law must be adhered to.
It could be recalled that, recently the main opposition party, the SLPP and the ruling APC were at each other’s throat trying to show their supremacy, thus leading to fracas in some parts of the country. Meanwhile, the two political party radio stations have been asked to stop allowing phone-in programmes so as to curtail the seeming animosity that currently exists between the parties.
