The awards of an APC symbol by the party executive has left unforgettable legacies as both aspirants and supporters are struggling to come to terms with the frustration and disappointment coupled with riots and damaged of property during the process.
One of the disappointed and frustrated aspirants who vied for the party symbol and stripped at ward 98 around Aberdeen Road, madam Doris Selwina Francis, spoke to this press over the weekend.
She lamented that since they awarded her the APC symbol and later withdrew it, life had become very difficult for her supporters as they continue to receive threatening remarks from rivals who were successful to get the party symbol.
She added that her house was completely vandalized and could not return home due to the continuous death threats she was receiving from rivals. “I am afraid to even enter my own house with my family,” she complained. Madam Francis further disclosed that, “youths were mobilized not only from Aberdeen Road, but from as far as Lumley and Tengbeh Town to attack me and my supporters in my compound over the APC symbol”.She however appealed to her supporters to remain peaceful and law abiding to avoid any confrontation with rivals that would lead to riots and damage of property over politics, “because politics is not meant to divide people but to exercise franchise”.It could be recalled that several aspirants of the APC party were reportedly fighting each other, over who was to receive the APC party symbol to contest the forthcoming local council election.
