One of Sierra Leone’s best female sports player in the country Fatima Ajami has disclosed to Awoko sports that she likes to play handball.
She mentioned that she has been in the game of handball for several years but she has never represented Sierra Leone in any international competition, as the country has not paid attention to International Handball.
She stressed that when she was in Guinea, she noticed that handball was very popular as compared to Sierra Leone.
She mentioned that instead of handball she has concentrated on football; and that presently she is the goalkeeper for the female military soccer team.
She intimated that she had found it difficult to compromise both football and handball due to her busy working schedule; but that she would have loved to play handball as she could do it better than most men.
She appealed to her fellow female colleagues to come on board to play handball which is an interesting game.
In another development the National Handball Team would depart for Nigeria to participate in their first international competition.
The delegation comprises of 5 officials and 12 players. The Officials are Alie Gibril Koroma leader of Delegation, Glen Felix George, Public Relation Officer, Elizabeth French, Psycho-therapist, Anabi Yusufu Kamara, Officer, and Abu Bakarr Sesay Head Coach.
The Players are Adikalie Kamara, Harry George, Henry A Kabia, Joseph Bangura, Teddy Campbell, Magnus Campbell, Hector Nyuma, Osman Kamara, Daniel Chuku Adams, Henry Gbetuwah, Ginrod Harding and Amidu Koroma.
